Keep Medicaid Strong

Take Action to Keep Medicaid Strong

This year, Congress will make important decisions about the future of Medicaid. It is critical that your federal representatives hear from you about the importance of this program to children. Medicaid is the single largest insurer of children nationwide and plays a critical role in improving health outcomes for children. In our region, children represent nearly 60 percent of the Medicaid population, but account for only a fraction of total Medicaid spending. We know that investing in the health and safety of young children produces tremendous returns in their lives and benefits society.

Please fill out the forms below to contact your legislators on this important issue. Based on your address, the letter will automatically go to the senators and congressmen who represent you.

Message

Keep Medicaid strong for our children.

Dear [Decision Maker],

Children need your help. As your constituent and a Le Bonheur Children's Hospital advocate, I'm asking you to protect Medicaid.

Our country's Medicaid program plays a crucial role in improving health outcomes in children. Medicaid is the single largest insurer of children nationwide. In our region, nearly 60% percent of children are enrolled in Medicaid each year. Children enrolled in Medicaid have access to essential child-specific health benefits such as vaccines, mental health assessments and annual well-child visits, as well as access to a full range of health care providers with the pediatric expertise to meet their unique health needs.

This year, you will make important decisions about the future of Medicaid. Cuts to Medicaid will risk a disproportionate, negative impact on children and may increase their health care costs.

I respectfully ask that you keep Medicaid strong for kids and make sure that any changes to the program do not compromise coverage and access to care for children.

Sincerely,
